Bell Rock Pathway Trail
Sedona, Arizona
Gravel
8 miles | 750 ft elevation | 100% gravel
Sedona is known for the spiritual, healing energy surrounding the beautiful red rock landscape, and also known for its incredible network of mountain bike trails. Bell Rock Pathway Trail is 4 miles one-way and is a popular option for mountain biking beginners, so after researching whether it would be doable on a gravel bike, I decided to give it a go and explore the route.
Starting from Little Horse Trailhead parking lot, head south following signage for the Bell Rock Pathway. The scenery from the trail is absolutely beautiful from the start and continues to awe around every turn.
Around half a mile into the ride, you’ll cross a picturesque wooden bridge and soon (around mile 2.5) you’ll reach a large slick rock area with expansive views of the stunning rock formations. The trail will bend, following the curve of Bell Rock around mile 3. From there it is a 1-mile gradual descent as you make your way to the Bell Rock Pathway Trailhead.
Once you reach the parking lot, turn around and ride the same 4 miles back to the Little Horse Trailhead. Even though it’s the same pathway back, seeing the views in reverse actually makes it feel like a completely different trail.
The trail has a nice flow and is well-maintained with minimal technical sections. It was doable on my gravel bike despite being better suited for a mountain bike, and there were only a few times where I needed to hike-a-bike.
The views are incredible as you ride past different rock formations and vantage points, and this route is a great option to get a glimpse at Sedona MTB riding.

Please note, this route is not recommended for gravel beginners, as it is better suited for mountain bikes.
Hotel Recommendation
Enchantment Resort - Located in Boynton Canyon, this resort is surrounded by nature and you can start your hike or ride right from your hotel room. The restaurants on site are delicious and you can’t go wrong with spending an afternoon at the pool. There is a Trail House on the property where you can rent bikes and ask for route recommendations. Whether you are enjoying a delicious meal at one of the restaurants on site, or spending the afternoon relaxing at the pool, or lounging on your private patio, you are surrounded by the picturesque red rocks. The rooms are spacious and the staff is super helpful and friendly. Although it can be a bit pricey, it’s worth it if you want to feel pampered and don’t mind splurging.
