Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree National Park, California
Road
21 miles | 770 ft elevation
Joshua Tree National Park is a beautiful desert with unique and scenic terrain, located about an hour from Palm Springs. This route will take you past countless Joshua Trees and impressive rock formations at an elevation of about 4,000 feet.
There is basically one main road through the park, so not much pre-planning is needed in terms of a route. From the west entrance, park at the Quail Springs Picnic Area (you can also ride into the park from town or start from one of the other picnic areas.)
Head east on Park Blvd (the main road through the park) until you're ready to turn around and head back to the picnic area. Plan on doing a leisurely ride, stopping often to take pictures and enjoy the sights.
Notes
Be sure to review the official Joshua Tree National Park website for the latest information about the park.
There are no services in the park (and no cell service), so be sure to bring enough food and water!
You will need to a pay park entrance fee to enter the park (whether by car, bike or foot).
The busy season in Joshua Tree runs from October through May.
The Joshua Tree/Palm Springs area can be very windy, so be prepared for possible headwinds while riding!
