Tour of the Moon
Grand Junction, Colorado
Road
62 miles | 3,440 ft elevation
The Colorado National Monument is a geological wonder and riding up and down the plateau is extremely scenic and fun! Participating in this event is a great way to experience Rim Rock Drive and its sweeping views. In addition to the many overlooks, there are three tunnels through the solid rock, which makes this ride truly unique (note: the tunnels are not lit, so lights are required). The event is well organized with several aid stations and a post-ride lunch. (Be sure to pack layers! The year I did this ride, an unexpected rain/hail storm came out of nowhere and many of us had hypothermia by the end!)
